Crystal and Kevin

Crystal and Kevin are a beautiful couple who , quite naturally, have beautiful children.  We were excited to have them come to the studio for a family session, all seven of them!!

Photographing families can be a challenge – you just never know what kids will do! So here they are:  Crystal, Kevin, Cameron, Legend, Treasure, Zion and Chandler!

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when you're planning any portrait session that will involve two or more people – clothing coordination and child preparation! Best to keep things simple, solid colors, and all in the same color group. For example, blues and greens in the right tones will complement each other. Jeans always work great – everyone has them and feels comfortable in them!  Tan pants as well. And for the simplest of all, everyone has a white shirt or sweater. The goal is to focus the attention on your faces, not your clothing.

When it comes to preparing your child for a portrait session, lighten up, don't worry, be happy!   Just make sure they are well rested – schedule around their meal and nap times – and plan for a fun activity to follow. It will make the whole experience seem more fun and natural to them. Don't worry about whether they have big toothy smiles in every shot – some of the best expressions are captured not even looking directly into the camera!
